Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into the skin. Each acupuncture point is located based on the patient’s condition and affected meridians. Meridians are energy channels throughout the body in which the Qi (pronounced “chi”) or energy flows. When the Qi is flowing, the body is functioning at its optimal level. When the Qi is obstructed, the following painful symptoms can result:
- Headaches, numbness, dizziness, nausea, digestive disorders, gynecological disorders, respiratory disorder and musculoskeletal pain.
People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted. Some people feel energized after treatment, while others feel relaxed. Only new, sterilized, disposable needles are used by the acupuncture provider. Patient’s usually experience symptomatic relief, as well as a greater sense of vitality and wellbeing.
